2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - The Best of ALL Worlds!

The Rebirth of a Classic! Nearly two decades ago, the notion of a "Luxury SUV" was a contradiction in terms...but the Jeep brand changed that forever. In fact, the introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee invented the luxury SUV segment. Since then, the company has sold more than 4 million units in 100 countries, proving that this innovative performer clearly resonates with both off road and on road enthusiasts.

Off-road capability, on-road refinement and efficient, powerful perfomance have never worked together so perfectly. Grand Cherokee does it all so well and makes it look so easy.

Chrysler Shows 9 Concepts At 2010 Safari!!

The rough-and-tough Jeep and Ram brands are Chrysler's strongest, with large fan bases and huge aftermarket support that comes from outside firms and the company's own Mopar division. Fortunately, it seems that Chrysler's new Italian overlords realize this, as evidenced by the slew of Jeep and Ram off-road concepts unveiled at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, a hotbed of torturous off-roading.
Looking over the list of concepts, with names such as "the General", "Nukizer 715", and "ImMortal", is like scanning the receipt from a rock-crawling shopping spree. But one vehicle in particular jumped out at us: the Mopar Ram Runner concept, a Ram-based pre-runner of sorts that portends a Mopar bolt-on kit that will be offered later this year as a counterpunch to the mighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
Below is a link to the rundown of the concepts, all of which show Chrysler is still serious about gettin' dirty:

UConnect Hands-Free Infotainment System: A Look Inside

In addition to a host of original crowd favorites, including a very colorful array of Dodge Challengers (see pics here), Dodge had another unique feature at the New York Auto Show this year - though it wasn't so much about the vehicle itself as what was inside it. Unveiled earlier this year, Dodge's UConnect system marries the latest in information and entertainment technology to provide the ultimate experience for busy, constantly-connected drivers. While it's definitely a cool gadget to play around with, utilizing it to its full capacity is even cooler. When we were finished fiddling with the radio (bass is awesome, by the way) we had our friend from Mopar, Doug Johnson, give us a brief demonstration. Check out the video to check out the "connected" Dodge Grand Caravan and all of the awesome features UConnect offers here: UConnect

Packing Heat, Horsepower: Dodge Police Car Still the Best!

by Scott Anderson, Chrysler Blog
We've seen a whole lot of reporting about police cruisers in the news today, which gives us a great opportunity to remind folks (both civilians and those in law enforcement) that the 2010 Dodge Charger police car is still the class leader on all the key spces that matter: available power, top speed and vehicle dynamics.
The Dodge brand's police car was designed from the ground up with police-specific features. The Charger's world-class rear-wheel-drive architecture delivers the most performance and power of any police vehicle on the road.
Fitted with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, the Charger police car provides the good guys both more horses under the hood and equally strong fuel economy. It helps chase down the bad guys with 368 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter High V6 engine version is packing 250 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines are green as they are strong, with an efficient 16 city/25 highway fuel economy. The HEMI V8 engine includes Multi-Displacement System (MDS) technology, which deactivates four of the eight cylinders when less power is needed during cruising.
In addition to a load of equipment designed to make a life of fighting crime easier, the Charger police car also features best-in-class braking from 60-0 mph in 135 feet, greater stability and improved handling, performance-tuned steering and suspension.
That said, we encourage the men and women in blue to shop around and compare.

All-new Pentastar engine debuts!

While the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to wow the crowds, what lies beneath the hood could be the key to Chrysler's future. The all new 3.6-liter, called Pentastar after the conpany's five pointed star logo, replaces 7 of Chrysler's engines and stands as the outcome of several years of development!
The all-aluminum DOHC Pentastar V6, as applied in the new Jeep, offers a 33% increase in power and 11% improvement in the torque department over the engine it replaces, for a husky 280 horsepower and 260 lb-ft, all while returning 11% better fuel economy and helping Chrysler trim it's overall, range-wide CAFE emissions by two miles per gallon by 2015. But the key to the engine's success could be its flexibility: not only is it designed as a flex-fuel engine, burning either gasoline or E85 ethanol with no effect on either output or emissions (no mean feat in and of itself), but the new Pentastar will find its way into a wide variety of vehicles, including Chryslers, Dodges and Jeeps, but also Alfa Romeros. See the press release here: PENTASTAR

Wild Colors Live On...Introducing Furious Fuchsia!

Debuting at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge celebrates the memory of one of the wildest OEM paint codes in history for the 40th birthday of the fearsom Challenger with the addidion of "Furious Fuchsia" to the ordering sheet. Significantly darker (though no less ostentatious) than the original hue, Furious Fuchsia calls upon the rich - if not short-lived - legacy of Panther Pink combined with innovations in paint technology to create it's own unique place in the Challenger's history books. Furious Fuchsia further distinguishes itself from the older, brighter tone with it's limited availability, as it will be offered exclusively on Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and only 400 Challenger SRT8 models.
In addition to the fierce exterior presence, each Furious Fuchsia model will also feature complimenting interior accents including Pearl White performance seats with Furious Fuchsia accented stripe and, in SRT8 models, an exclusive dash-mounted plate distinguishing the vehicle as only one of 400. Despite the extensive aesthetic overhaul, powertrains for both models will remain unchanged and as such, the R/T Classic will continue to boast a 376 horsepower 5.7L HEMI V-8 engine while the SRT8 will sport it's fabled 425 horsepower 6.1L HEMI V-8. Pricing will be around $35,140 and $45,140 respectively, and will be available for order in March! Call and reserve yours today!

Who says Chargers aren't for Women?

I'm Gone is a call out to the confident Charger-driving women out there who know how to burn rubber. It turns the classic break-up cliche on it's head, giving a nod to the ladies for once. It's a not to the mystery and power of a strong woman - mysterious, cool, in-control and not willing to settle. 2010 Detroit Auto Show:Fiat 500 EV

Although it held no formal press conference, Chrysler did display a pair of Fiat 500 models in the Motor City that spanned the entire performance spectrum of this diminutive front driver. On the "hot" side of the equation was an enthusiast-oriented 500 Arbath SS, already on sale in Europe and due here when the first Fiat product makes it's U.S. debut in 2012. Championing the green forces was the experimental battery-powered 500 BEV, shown here, although its real-world status is far less certain at this time. But, this great vehicle has made it in the top 10 of Kelley Blue Book's concept vehicles.
According to Chrysler sources, the 500 BEV is a one-off engineering exercise for now, primarily intended to access various battery and powertrain packaging issues. It's fitted with the same modular EV drive system that Chrysler has been evaluating for the past several years in vehicles that were under development by its disbanded ENVI organization whose functions have now become part of the combined Chrysler/Fiat powertrain operation. However, while battery electric development continues, in a meeting last November that outlined its five-year plan, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne indicated that the vehicle set to become its first volume-build EV would be a light commercial van based on the European Fiat Doblo and due in the 2011-2012 window.

A New Dodge has Joined the Force!

"A new Dodge has joined the force. The Broward County Sheriff’s Department in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, already well stocked with more than 200 Dodge Chargers, has now added several high-powered Challengers to its law enforcement fleet. For deputy Tom Sheridan, the choice was a no-brainer for the fleet’s Aggressive Driving Enforcement unit: “They’re a full-sized, rear-wheel drive V8-powered car that’s larger than the competition — the Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang — but they share a lot features and performance of the Charger,” he says. Among the features that this car does not have in common with everyday Challengers: front and rear radar systems, a higher top speed, and a Mopar Cold Air Intake system for improved performance and gas mileage." See "Accidental Mummies" for less with Dodge!

Dodge has a proud history of supporting cultural and educational community activities, sponsoring exhibits like "Splendors of Ancient Egypt," "Van Gogh: Fact to Face," and "On the Edge: Contemporary Art." This year, the company brought a very cool exhibit "Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato" to the Detroit Science Center. The 10,000 square-foot exhibition space showcases 36 mummies on loan from the Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico, giving a fascinating look into a mysterious natural mummification process that no one fully understands - as well as insight into the lives of the people who lived in Guanajuato more than 100 years ago.
This is the first time any of these accidental mummies have been seen outside of Mexico. And the good news for anyone living in or traveling to Detroit is that Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, and Jeep drivers can simply show their keys to get a discounted entry price of $19.95. But don't dawdle - "Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato" will only be on display at the Detroit Science Center until January 31st before moving on to six other North American cities. See amazing images of the exhibit, as well as a video tour by clicking on the link. http://accidentalmummies.com/

Finally, Get Live TV on the Road!

It's an age-old quandry: It's time to hit the road for that family trip, but the playoffs are on. What to do? At long last, now you no longer have to choose between mobility and entertainment. Last month, Chrysler became the first automaker to offer live mobile television inside it's vehicles through FLO TV Auto Entertainment, which allows you to browse up to 20 channels - from ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX to ESPNH, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon - using a wireless remote control; the system's tiny antenna is practically hidden (unlike most roof-mounted satellites). The Mopar package costs $629 (plus installation) and is offered on new Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles - and can even be installed on some 2009 models. Call us 1-800-636-4265, and let us help you get Mobile!

Best in Show: The Dodge Viper!

January 20, 2010 Red Letter Dodge.
The people have spoken, and it's no wonder they're singing Dodge's praises! The 2010 North American International Auto show. With it's signature crosshair grille, deep-cut side scallops, and swept-back fenders, the car is always a crowd pleaser. Thinking about getting on board? There are more than 7,600 custome configurations available to make yours stand out. Choose from 12 colors, six stripe options, five interior color combinations, four wheel sets and three interior bezels. The 2010 model has a new hood with a larger scoop and louvers for better cooling (with a 8.4-Liter, 600-horsepower V-10 engine underneath, it could certainly use it). But some things never change: it has the same red push-button starter and resulting throaty growl characteristic of a Viper. It's certainly easy to see how 100 reader-judges called the iconic car the most expressively styled vehicle at the show! Now, if you could only decide which color to get...

Watch How a Dodge Challenger is Made!

Think of it as the untimate field trip for grown ups: Peter Carey and a video crew visited Chrysler's Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario to get a true behind-the-scenes look at the assembly process for the Dodge Challenger. In this video, he learns it takes about 24 hours to take a Challenger from framing to the end of the line, with more than 2,400 workers building Chrysler 300's, Dodge Chargers, and Challengers at the plant. Something is going on pretty much everywhere you look at Brampton - even above your head! http://bit.ly/8M3JhE

Now that the holidays have wound down, and the winter weather has arrived, it's time to start thinking about that vehicle we pushed off! What kind of vehicle are you looking for?
